As many people know Thomason Ford recently closed, they held an important place in the Stayton community. As with any longstanding local business, change naturally brings a sense of transition for residents who have built relationships over generations. As our community looks ahead, Skyline Ford has stepped forward with a commitment to continue serving local families, businesses, and drivers throughout the Mid-Valley with professionalism, care, and community involvement.

Based in Salem, Skyline Ford has been serving Oregon drivers since 1962 and remains family-owned and operated today. Over the decades, the dealership has grown into one of the region’s most recognized Ford dealerships, earning a reputation for customer service, automotive expertise, and long-term community relationships throughout the Willamette Valley. To help our members and community get to know the team behind Skyline Ford, we’ve invited them to answer a few questions about their history, their goals, and how they hope to connect with the Stayton and Sublimity communities.

Q&A with Skyline Ford

1. Skyline Ford has been serving the Willamette Valley for decades. Can you share a little about the history of the dealership and what has helped you build such a strong reputation over the years?

Don Donofrio started Don’s Skyline Ford in 1962. Ford automobiles are amongst the finest vehicles on the roads today, and we are happy to share that experience with our valued customers. Don’s son Jim grew up around Skyline Ford since the beginning. Jim Donofrio now runs Skyline Ford and the other Donofrio Dealerships, along with his son Brian (BJ). This is a 3rd Generation Family run business, which is amazing within itself. Most of the dealership’s employees have been with the Donofrio’s for many years. A family dealership that has been in business this long depends on long-term relationships with customers, employees, and friends. We are proud to be serving Salem and the Willamette Valley since 1962.

2. As you begin building relationships within the Stayton and Sublimity communities, what excites you most about serving customers in this area?

We are excited to join the Stayton Sublimity Chamber of Commerce and become more involved in this beautiful and tight-knit community. We appreciate the strong community pride and small-town values that make Stayton and Sublimity such special places to live and work. We welcome the opportunity to earn your business and provide top-notch customer service.

3. Skyline Ford is known for being family-owned and community-focused. How do those values shape the way your team approaches customer service and long-term relationships?

Our family-owned and community-focused values played a major role in shaping our Core Values and Mission Statement. Skyline Ford employees recently came together to create guiding principles that reflect our commitment to our customers, employees, and local communities. We are especially proud that team members from every level of the organization contributed to developing these values and help define who we are as a company.

5. Community involvement matters deeply to Chamber members and local residents. What kinds of local partnerships, sponsorships, or community support initiatives are important to Skyline Ford?

In addition to joining the Stayton Sublimity Chamber, we are also members of the Salem, Keizer, and Dallas Chambers of Commerce. We donate our time, money, and resources to a wide range of charities and fundraisers including local parades, golf tournaments, toy drives, food drives, educational sponsorships, high school events, car shows, and more!

6. Looking ahead, what message would you like to share with the Stayton and Sublimity community as you begin this next chapter and continue building trust with local families and businesses?
